About StoryPeeker
What the tool does, and where it stops.
A small independent project, not a company.
Why it exists
Instagram holds a lot of content in the open and then puts a login in front of it. A public story is public, anyone is allowed to see it, but the app still wants an account before it will play one. That gap is the whole reason this site is here. If something is already public, looking at it should not cost you a sign up.
The other half is the viewer list. Instagram shows the account owner exactly who opened their story. For a lot of people that single detail is what stops them looking at all, and it has nothing to do with whether the content was public in the first place.
How it works
You type a public username. The lookup runs from our end, not from an account of yours, and what comes back is the same profile picture and stories Instagram already serves to the open web. Nothing is stored against you and there is no account to create, which is why there is no sign in step anywhere on the site.
Because the request never comes from your account, there is no name for Instagram's viewer list to record.
What it cannot do
Private accounts are out of reach and always will be. When an account is private, Instagram serves its content only to approved followers, so no tool can pull it. Any site telling you otherwise is either lying or fishing for your password. We will never ask for an Instagram login, because reading public content does not need one.
Expired stories are gone too. Instagram deletes them after 24 hours and there is no archive to reach into afterwards.
Independence
StoryPeeker is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Meta Platforms, Inc. We have no access to Instagram accounts and no way to recover, unlock, or change one. For anything about your own account, Meta is the only place that can help.
If you would rather not be here
If your profile shows up on this site and you want it gone, the removal page explains how, and it takes one email. Copyright holders can file a formal notice through the DMCA page instead.
